In the middle of this summer, Japanese artist Saeko Killy created compilation released on the German label Bureau B, where my chosen track is at number one.
It was produced by Conny Frischauf from nearby Vienna and originally comes from her debut album Die Drift from 2021.
The track itself is quite unobtrusive from the first notes and the listener might fall under the impression that they are hearing just another pleasant song, of which there are hundreds on the internet. But this is only true until the main motif kicks in.
A slightly unsettling, almost psychedelic sound emerges from the speed and gives the whole track a touch of something extraordinary. On a powerful soundsystem, this kind of thing has to take one over completely.
