I like to keep a basic overview of newly released albums. Also, that moment when I find a really interesting track can inspire me, and I immediately imagine how it could be used. That's what I enjoy. However, very often, in the quantity of newly released albums, I quickly lose focus while listening to them. A lot of average music usually results in me overlooking a great track in that inattention, only to hear it in some set later and wonder how such music could have escaped my attention when it passed through my hands. Or conversely, I buy an album because it seems interesting at the moment, but later, I lose interest. I also wonder how well-known DJs deal with this, as they constantly have to find fresh new music while various labels send them a lot of music in the hope of catching their interest and including it in their sets. All this while constantly traveling and in demanding nightlife. But that's the reason they have such a position.
During such listening, you really have to have a routine and recognize the interest of a track in a few seconds. Do you have a type of music that is so distinctive that it appeals to you almost immediately. Then there are cases where just the sound of an instrument, synthesizer, vocal coloring, or overall rhythm is enough. This is exactly what applies to today's release. Immediately, the Hi-hat rhythm in combination with the dub bass caught my attention. When the whole melody unfolds fully in the second half, I knew for sure that this would definitely keep me entertained. Lord Tusk has long been a guarantee of quality, as he has demonstrated many times before. However, finding more detailed information about him is not easy at all. Despite his extensive musical output and frequent inclusion in sets by various DJs from around the world, he likes to maintain an air of mystery around himself. He allows his art, with its unmistakable signature and genre diversity, to speak exclusively to his listeners.
His latest EP, 'Happy Endings,' released on the Tallinn-based label MIDA, provides another glimpse into his magical kitchen, and it wouldn't surprise me if he found his way into yet another DJ's bag again.
