Roman Holý is an absolutely fundamental figure of the Czech music scene. He founded his first band J.A.R. on 17 November 1989. This day marked the beginning of the Velvet Revolution in Czechoslovakia and the beginning of the end of the communist regime.
Roman Holý is not only the producer and bandleader of J.A.R., but has also had other successful projects such as Monkey Business, Sexy Dancers and music for several Czech films.
His discography includes countless releases, so it's a bit surprising that he didn't release his solo debut album until 2021. As Roman has admitted in several interviews, the album wasn't planned and came about basically by accident during a covid when there was no opportunity to collaborate in the studio with other musicians. However, the wait was worth it and we can enjoy one of the best Czech albums of modern times!
