With the arrival of the new year, we have the latest LP from the production of the French label Antinote. The label, known for its musical openness, this time gave space to the producer Shelter.
In his work, Shelter pays tribute to the Indian musician Charanjit Singh and his album "Synthesizing - Ten Ragas To A Disco Beat," which is often referred to as one of the first acid records ever. As Shelter himself stated why he was influenced by this choice:
"A long-time fan of 1982's "Ten Ragas To A Disco Beat," this one is a homage to Mr. Singh's unique electronic style. Featuring 5 raga-style modes on top of intricate time signatures. Definitely not your average acid house."
Track In C 03 may initially seem a bit disjointed and challenging to listen to, but that irregular rhythm in combination with the acid bassline and oriental harmony sounds absolutely perfect.
